Business Astrology: Aries Solar Eclipse

‘Then you flew your Learjet up to Nova Scotia to see the total eclipse of the sun…’

-You’re So Vain, Carly Simon (a personal karaoke favorite of yours truly.)

On Monday, April 8 we will be treated to a total solar eclipse in Aries. And if you happen to be living in the path of totality like I am, you’ll get double the pleasure by being able to witness this once in a lifetime event with your own two eyes (safely behind eclipse glasses of course).

Eclipse energy is often intense. While viewing them in retrospect, folks have noticed they often serve as notable beginning and endings, portals if you will. They also happen in pairs (new and full moon) two times a year. Just a week ago we were treated to the first of 2024 with the lunar eclipse in Libra.

The energy of the lunar eclipse in Libra was all about grounding into your values and reflecting on your business relationships. Are your ideals actually in alignment with your reality? This solar eclipse is a continuation of that question, except now we’re being called to put our ideals into action.

Key Takeaways

  • review the values you hold in business

  • take stock of your business partners and associates

  • reflect on your relationship with your clients and customers

  • get real with it all. Does your reality align with your ideals?

  • make sure your work actually supporting your business mission

  • consider how much outside voices are influencing your identity

  • own the impact of your work and show up as a voice in your field

Centering Authenticity

This eclipse is taking place in the action-driven, 100% keeping-it-real sign of Aries. Putting your brand values in motion is how your business mission is born. Aka: what are the tangible things you do, who are you doing it for, and why do they need it. But is your work actually supporting this mission?

If the answer is no, take a moment to reflect on why. For many, the thoughts, opinions, and expectations of others often distract them from their most authentic path. Right now, you’re being asked to question that and reflect on how much outside voices are influencing your identity. Who are you trying to please? Who are you making yourself small for?

Aries asks us to be a leader. This solar eclipse is also beckoning you to own the impact of your work and to show up as a voice in your field. Because you are! To step into this power, you need to recognize and center your authenticity, let that lead the work that you do. The Libra eclipse asked us to question how much we’re talking the talk, now this Aries eclipse is pushing us to actually walk the walk.

Choose Your Hard

This eclipse is also marked by another cosmic merger. Another signature of this chart is the near Mars-Saturn conjunction that will be exact two days following the eclipse. These two malefics meeting up remind me of the story of the tortoise and the hare. Mars, the hare, wants to pull ahead and move quickly. Tortoise Saturn is moving at a slow and steady pace. When they meet up in the water sign of Pisces, they bring emotional tension.

This is especially highlighted by the Aries eclipse, which is ruled by Mars. With the overall theme being authenticity, this conjunction can highlight the emotional ripples that stepping into your power and mission can cause. Internally this could bring up imposter syndrome and feelings of unworthiness. In your outer life, you could sense push back or confusion from others. They knew you to be one way, but now you’re shifting that image.

I am a firm believer that in this life we get to choose what’s hard. Either you stay where you are and deal with the hard, uncomfortable feelings you’ve been sitting in. Or you change, and your growth pushes you out of your comfort zone. In the end there’s no right or wrong, it's a matter of preference. Very three of swords for my tarot folks out there.

What’s Going on with Mercury Retrograde?

To add a little bit of spice to this Aries season, Mercury will be retrograde from April 1-25, meaning it will be trekking backwards during this eclipse.

On April 8, Mercury will be traveling much too close to the sun to be observed. In astrology we refer to this Sun-planet closeness as being combust. Often, the planet caught under the Sun’s rays is considered overshadowed and lacking in strength. So, taking that in consideration, I wouldn’t worry too much about Mercury influencing this eclipse.
